Dr. Scott M. Fishman is the Distinguished Professor of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine, the Jaquelyn Anderson Endowed Chair in Wellness, and the Executive Director of Office of Wellness Education at UC Davis School of Medicine. He was previously the Fullerton Endowed Chair in Pain Medicine, Professor of Anesthesiology, Executive Vice Chair for the Department of Anesthesiology, and Director of the Center for Advancing Pain Relief at UC Davis.
He is the founding Chief of UC Davis Division of Pain Medicine, a position he held for 20 years. He also served as chair of UC Davis School of Medicine Academic Faculty. His medical degree is from the University of Massachusetts Medical School with residency training in Internal Medicine (Yale/Greenwich Hospital) and Psychiatry (Harvard/Mass General Hospital) as well as Anesthesia Pain Medicine fellowship (Harvard/Mass General Hospital). He has authored several books, and published over 200 articles in the medical literature and book chapters. He has been honored with numerous awards for his contributions to medicine and was recently appointed by HHS Secretary to the oversight committee for pain research at the National Institutes of Health.
